General Counsel
Ms. Schwertfeger has been practicing law for over 25 years. She started her career at Mayor Richard Riordan’s downtown Riordan & McKinzie law firm where she worked on mergers, acquisitions, bank financings, venture financings, business formation and other types of contractual matters. Ms. Schwertfeger discovered early on that she enjoyed the general counsel role, which requires a more detailed understanding of what really makes a client’s business productive. So she pursued this career path and served as Mercury’s General Counsel throughout much of the 1990’s. Subsequently, Ms. Schwertfeger served as General Counsel for a start-up in the clinical trials industry and worked as a litigator and transactional attorney at a law firm in Orange County. Ms. Schwertfeger’s career path led full circle, when she rejoined Mercury Aviation LLC as General Counsel in January 2013.
Ms. Schwertfeger received her B.A. in English from the University of Southern California, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of California at Los Angeles, graduating Order of the Coif.
