2016 was a record year for Mercury Air Cargo in terms of tonnage at each of the company’s three locations in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Jose.

Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President John Peery reports that Mercury Air Cargo handles 24% of all the tonnage that travels through LAX airport, “which is significant, given the size of the cargo market in LA,” he said.

Peery said that the San Francisco locations had a fairly significant growth spurt with the additions of Air France, KLM, and Quantas committing to Mercury Air Cargo in 2016, in addition to organic growth with the company’s existing customers. Adding to this is the relatively new clients taken on in San Jose since its commencement of operations in April 2016.

“Overall, it was a significant amount of tonnage for all three stations,” Peery said.

Mercury Air Group CEO Josephy Czyzyk praised the company’s progress. “It was a banner year in terms of efficiencies with great management,” Czyzyk said. “They knew how to be very efficient with manpower and keep clients happy, especially in peak season in the last quarter of 2016,” he said.

As an added feather in their cap, ANA Airways named Mercury Air Cargo its Top Ground Handling service. 

“It’s a huge deal,” Peery said. He explained that an international carrier has approximately 60 ports that they may service worldwide, and to be recognized as exceeding everyone else’s service level is a big honor.

“And it’s definitely a global scorecard - it’s not just regional or North America - it’s global,” he said. “Particularly in that we're a small, independent, privately-owned company and we're dealing with multinational global companies.”

Peery attributes the nod to Mercury Air Cargo’s commitment to customer service. “We provide cargo handling, but it’s a service - a service for the customers, and a service for the airline.”  and that’s our focus.” “Service coupled with security and safety in today’s global transportation world is our top priority,” Peery said.
