Jupiter Airline Services, Inc. has entered into a Cargo Sales Agency agreement with Xiamen Airlines and produced positive financial results.

Jupiter is acting as freight forwarder, but not in the traditional sense, according to Zack Vernikovsky, Jupiter’s Executive Vice President & General Manager, who dubbed their role as “space broker.” 

As a company providing freight forwarding services (mainly exports out of the U.S.) via air service, Vernikovsky explained, “Most of our customers are not original shippers of the cargo, but other shipping companies or logistics providers, and they are using Jupiter as a broker to buy services. So, Jupiter, with its ability to provide different services, is buying capacity from the airline, and providing it to those shipping companies,” he said. 

Currently, Vernikovsky reports Jupiter is having strong activity from the west coast mainly into South American and Mexico, but the strongest activity is into Asia. The company’s largest number of customers and traffic comes from e-commerce, which he says has become very big for airfreight logistics demand.

“We're reading all the time about Amazon and Alibaba, but there’s so many other companies in the e-commerce world and they are growing as well and they all need transportation solutions. That’s our specialty. It’s a big market and growing all the time and so is the demand for Jupiter’s services,” he said. 

We began supporting Xiamen early on, and because Jupiter has been supporting the airline with cargo, we’re well-positioned to be a selling agent as well, along with using the lion’s share of the capacity available on each flight. 

Things are going well so far, Vernikovsky reports. They started with three flights a week in June and gradually went to four flights a week over the summer. By December 2017, he said, they will be operating six flights per week. 

“We are Xiamen’s strongest sales agent and looking forward to a long and profitable business relationship for both,” Vernikovsky said.
